Data Analysis Consultant

Great Brook can help you get started on the data analysis of your survey project. The scope and size of the survey questionnaire will drive the scope of work. Therefore, we can only offer guidelines for the pricing, based upon the following parameters: a 25-question survey with interval and check list questions and approximately 200 respondents.

We will take your data set, format it in an Excel spreadsheet, and perform basic data analysis, and help you with the rest. The deliverables would include:

  • Descriptive statistics calculated for all survey questions
    • Mean, mode, median, standard deviation, confidence interval, frequency distributions (as appropriate to the type of survey question)
  • Charts generated as appropriate for the data
  • Guidance on additional analysis you might want to perform on the data set

Our Process & Requirements for the Survey Instrument Critiques

Thinking of engaging Great Brook for some Survey Mentoring on your survey questionnaire?  Here’s how we typically proceed.

  • We’ll have a quick phone chat so we can understand your interests.
  • We’ll ask you to send us the survey instrument(s) so that we can take a quick look at them.  (Yes, we’ll execute a Non-Disclosure if you want.)
  • We’ll then give you a firm quote for mentoring you on your instrument.

Why do we want to see your questionnaire beforehand?  We need to see it to scope our level of effort and give you a quote.

  • Is it a bona fide survey instrument?  When you send us an instrument for review, it should be a questionnaire that has gone through the drafting and revision process with your project team. We cannot provide refinement on a very rough draft — beyond saying, “you need to go through more revision.” We are happy to talk with you about a more extensive engagement where we draft the instrument for you or in conjunction with you, but these instrument critiques are limited scope engagements meant to be a near-final revision, not the creation of the survey instrument from a bulleted list of survey objectives or attributes.
  • What’s a question?  Seems simple; it’s not.  We define a question an entry into the resulting survey data set. (Sorry if that sounds obtuse and legalese, but we’re striving for clarity.)  For example, “one question” that has parts A, B, C, & D is more likely 4 questions.  On the other hand, a question that asks the respondent to rate 7 different aspects of a product could actually be far less than 7 times the effort to review.  We know this isn’t as black and white as it seems it should be.  We’re just trying to be fair to you — and us!
